Welcome, Student Members of Omicron Delta Epsilon

Welcome to Omicron Delta Epsilion's home on the World Wide Web. This site serves as a resource center for members and prospective members of ODE.

Omicron Delta Epsilon has six important objectives:

  • Recognition of scholastic attainment in economics

  • Recognition of outstanding achievements in economics on the part of economists at all levels

  • Establishment of closer ties between students and faculty in economics within their own colleges and universities

  • Establishment of closer ties between students and faculty in economics on all campuses

  • Publication of an official journal

  • Emphasize the professional aspects of economics as a career field for service in the academic world, business, government, and international organizations

ODE and Sage Publications are pleased to announce that The American Economist is now available online at americaneconomist.org. New members can access their online subscription in the “Subscribe” section of the AE website, by entering their ODE member number (located on the member card given by their chapter at induction) and setting up their account.

ODE Superstars

ODE is pleased to announce the winners of the annual paper competitions. The winner of the Irving Fisher Award for 2015 is Jia Wang of the university of Oklahoma for “Do Economic Development Incentives Crowd Out Public Expenditures in US States?.” The winner of the Frank W. Taussig undergraduate award is Kelly M. Lee of Georgia College & State University for “Does Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Affect Employment?”

Our 2016 Distinguished Advisor award goes to David Chaplin, chapter advisor of the chapter of ODE at Northwest Nazarene University.

Paul Romer of New York University received the 2016 John R. Commons Award. His lecture, “The Trouble with Macroeconomics” was delivered to a packed house.

  1. Chapter reporting form - Return this form to the Central Office. Information given to us in this form will be posted on this website. Any outstanding grant reports for Fall 2015 grants should be received no later than this date as well
  2. Proposals for Chapter Project Grants for the fall of 2016
May 15, 2016
Deadline for submitting form to present papers at the Graduate Student Session and Chapter Advisor Session in Chicago in January 2017 at the Allied Social Sciences Association meeting.
June 15, 2016
NEW Deadline for submitting papers for the Fisher and Taussig article awards.
